(pronounced /zɛ/ tæθ or ‘zeh-tath’)
nicknames: Tath (rarely used)
gender: Male
age: Three Years
species: Huskal
breed: Black-backed Jackal x Gray Wolf
pack: Retronym
rank: Auditioning for King of Retronym
personality: Zetath generally retains a coolly detached personality, although he isn’t afraid to ride down on a paw out of line. His intelligence makes up for his diminutive build, permitting him to swiftly rise in rank through Retronym. He has extremely strong personal patriotism towards his pack instilled in him by his mother, and although he recognizes Retronym as a horde of bloodthirsty savages he also sees their strong potential to rule the forest and the meadows and has made it his personal goal to see that through. On a personal level, his temperament is calm with a dark arrogance that offsets his meek stature.
features: As a huskal, he’s generally smaller than the rest of his pack, standing a little over two feet at the shoulder. He has the general body type and build of a gray wolf, but his legs and muzzle are elongated, giving him a slightly alien look. He has the facial features of the average wolf with the tall, wide ears of his jackal mother. His eyes are a pale ochre color, almost fawn in shade. Zetath is fairly lean and not particularly muscular, as he prefers to have others do the fighting when he needs things done.
history: Zetath was the illegitimate child of the former Retronym healer and the former Nepenthes alpha (both of them now being dead). His mother was a half-senile black-backed jackal who kept mostly to herself, and few asked after the father of her cubs. He was born with three siblings, two of which were killed by the Nepenthes alpha in attempt to cover up his scandal and the third of which died from cold the following winter.
Zetath’s mother was traumatized when the Nepenthes Alpha killed her two pups, and receded into post-traumatic stress disorder. She withdrew from her position as Healer and refused to nurse Zetath, who was fostered in with another litter of cubs who were born the week before.
Whenever Zetath was around six moons old, however, his mother began to recover from her depression and returned to her post as Healer. Zetath became to form a bond with her, through which she was determined to teach him the sharp intelligence she had found in the Nepenthes Alpha but had noticed a lack of among her own pack. She was determined for Retronym to one day become the strongest pack in the forest, and to do that they required a powerful, sharp-witted King. She saw that her son had the potential to be that leader, and she strove to bring that potential forward. Zetath learned quickly and often neglected his hunting duties and fighting training to learn with his mother.
Zetath’s mother died when he was a little over a year older. Shortly before her death, his mother explained the identity of his father and what she eventually hoped Zetath would become. He quickly embraced these ideas and strove to sharpen his intelligence even further. He quickly won over many of the members of Retronym, gaining a kind of cult following over the course of the next year. They helped him rise quickly through the ranks until he reached the seat of Alpha.
sample rp: Felix groaned in his sleep, turning over onto his back and showing the white on his stomach like a submissive pup. He was having nightmares again - bloody affairs, complete with shadowed figures and the ever-present figure of Adeodatus - so nothing particularly new, nothing particularly worrisome or prophetic, but they were stressful and impossibly frightening. His breathing quickened, and with a yelp he awoke.
His blue eyes flashed for a second as he jumped to a standing position, whipping around to face whatever had undoubtedly come forth from his nightmares to finish him off, but as he faced the emptiness of his den, he sighed and sat down. Life was so difficult right now.
He was likely to gain control of the Advent soon - the other Alpha was losing power, what with the Adeodatus affair - and he didn't at all think he was ready for any of that. A doubled pack wouldn't do him or them any good when he was having problems even coping with his dreams.
He stood, walking down the main pathway and out of the mountain, into the cool night air. His ears stung a little bit from the sharp air - they were still bleeding from that botched piercing the Healer had done while the Seer was making his seasonal pilgrimage - but it felt good to get out of the den on nights like these.
He looked up at the stars, giving silent prayer for those awaiting Noctis Ara before stretching his wings and heading for the edge of the Lake. He always did his best thinking there.
